Ryan Farell

Biography

Ryan is a PhD student with a research focus in deep reinforcement learning and works closely with Oden's CVC Lab under Prof. Bajaj. He is a core member of the DEDRECON project, which is a large scale army project that develops advanced machine learning algorithms for real-life image visual perception under multiple modalities. Previously, Ryan held an Equinor Research Fellowship where he worked closely with Prof. Bickel (UT ORIE Department) and the Equinor North America Data Science (DCoE DS) group and conducted research on machine learning applications to reservoir engineering. This work is being used in production, replacing a lot of labor previously carried out by reservoir engineers. His research interests are reinforcement learning, probability theory, decision theory.
